Desires of the Heart Doula and Lactation Care offers personalized birth doula care to support you through your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. We provide compassionate care and emotional support to help you have a positive birthing experience.

As a certified lactation consultant, I am dedicated to helping you navigate the breastfeeding journey. I offer expert advice, support, and guidance to ensure successful breastfeeding for you and your baby. Whether you're a first-time parent or seeking assistance with lactation challenges, I am here to help.

Childbirth Education

At Desires of the Heart Doula and Lactation Care, we provide comprehensive childbirth education to empower expectant parents with knowledge and confidence for the birthing process. Our classes cover various topics, including labor coping techniques, birth plans, and postpartum care, preparing you for the beautiful journey of parenthood.

Postpartum Support

Breastfeeding Consultations

Birth Doula
Bundle

  • 2 Pre-natal visits 

  •  Early Labor Support in the Home Setting (if possible)

  • 12 hours of Birth support

  • Additional birth time available at $45/hour

  • 2 hours of support immediately after birth

  • 2 Postpartum visits

  •  Expertly Trained, Certified & Experienced Doulas

  •  24-hour Unlimited Telephone Support at 36 weeks

Breastfeeding Consultations
$25/hr

  • Learn proper feeding techniques

  • Education on breastfeeding, pumping and storing milk

  • At-home visits (averaging two hours)

(At-home visits may incur an add-on mileage fee if location is greater than a 30 mile radius of Columbia, SC. )

Lactation Services
$80/hr

  • This consultation covers all infant feeding and lactation concerns.

  • Get questions or challenges related to lactation induction, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, or weaning answered

  • A personalized care plan tailored to your body, your baby, and your specific goals.

Postpartum Support
$800

What is a Postpartum Doula? A postpartum doula offers evidence-based guidance on a variety of topics, including infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery after childbirth, parent-baby bonding, infant soothing techniques, and basic newborn care. Their role is to support families in the early days and weeks following the arrival of a new baby, helping ease the transition to parenthood.

 

What Can I Expect from My Postpartum Doula?

  • Assistance with newborn care

  • Guidance with feeding and lactation

  • Encouragement of uninterrupted bonding time with your baby

  • Opportunities for rest and naps for parents

  • Evidence-based recommendations and advice

  • Help with light household chores (ex. kitchen tidy-uop)

  • Referrals to additional resources or professionals

  • Time set aside for self-care

  • Support in spending quality time with older children

  • Companionship and emotional support

  • Meal preparation

  • Help with baby’s laundry, nursery organization, changing and feeding stations.

This postpartum care package is for 8 hours of daytime postpartum doula care. These hours can be used in 4hr increments.

Childbirth Education
$150

With our childbirth education, you can expect the following:

  • To become more enlightened on labor and the birth of your baby

  • Learn coping skills to manage the discomfort of labor

  • Discover ways to ask questions of your medical team in order to make informed decisions

  • Understand your new role as a parent

  • Discuss the expectations of you and your spouse/partner and how to support each other through the early postpartum days and months.  

  • Learn about the stages of labor

  • Discover methods to support the natural onset of labor, help it progress smoothly, and potentially save valuable time during the process.
